Bending principle

 

The principle of metal bending mainly involves the plastic deformation of metal materials under the action of external forces. The following is a detailed introduction:
During the bending process, the metal sheet first undergoes elastic deformation and then enters plastic deformation. In the initial stage of plastic bending, the sheet bends freely. As the pressure exerted by the mold on the plate increases, the contact between the plate and the mold gradually becomes closer, and the radius of curvature and bending moment arm decrease.
During the bending process, the stress point undergoes elastic deformation, while plastic deformation occurs on both sides of the bending point, resulting in dimensional changes in the metal material.
In order to avoid cracks, deformation and other problems at the bending point, adjustments are often made by increasing the bending radius, bending multiple times, etc.
This principle applies not only to the bending of flat materials, but also to the bending of metal pipes, such as in a hydraulic pipe bending machine where the pressure generated by the hydraulic system is used to shape the pipe. In general, metal bending is a processing method that uses the plastic deformation of metal to manufacture parts or components of the desired shape and size.
